A quick and easy tutorial this week with this beads and chain earrings DIY!
Don’t get me wrong, I love a project that I can get my teeth into, but sometimes, simple is the best way to go. A perfect beginner project, all you need for this is chain, jump rings, beads and some loop stud earrings! If you are unsure about how to use jump rings or have had trouble getting them to close neatly, pop on over to this tutorial first.
You will need:
–1 pair butterfly earring backs
-4 x 4mm jump rings
-chain nose pliers and cutters
How to make:an note on the chain – it has to be thin enough to fit through the hole in your beads, but be large enough to get a jump ring through. I couldn’t find any loose chain that fit the bill, so I cut up this ready made necklace.
1.Cut a 10cm length of fine chain and connect to a loop stud earring with a 4mm jump ring at one end
2.Thread on a single bead
3.Then use another 4mm jump ring to connect the other end of chain to one of the loops on the back of a butterfly or scroll earring back
4.Repeat all steps for the other earring!
It is so easy, why stop at one pair? I also made a pair with these minty green ceramic beads. Green and gold is always a great combination!
Many beads have quite small holes, so it might be tricky to find a chain that will fit through – look for a hole size of 1mm and above if shopping online, or better still, go to your nearest bead or craft shop and see for yourself.
