Delicate pearl and safety pin jewellery set made from Preciosa glass pearls and gold safety pins. Super chic, but super simple to make!
I had noticed designers like Vivienne Westwood, Marc Jacobs and Tom Binns using safety pins fashioned from precious metals in their pieces and the idea to create a simple DIY version popped up in my head. Pearls also seemed to be a recurring trend with designers so why not combine the two!
You will need:
–Gold coloured safety pins; Any size between 18mm and 25mm would work
-4mm Preciosa Glass Pearls; I originally used Swarovski in Light Creamrose, but these are no longer available. Preciosa are a very good alternative!
How to make
1.First up the necklace. Open up a safety pin. and thread on your beads. My pins were fairly small (approx 2cm) but I could just fit three 4mm pearls on and still be able to close it up!
2.Use a jump ring to connect the looped end of the safety pin to the chain
3.For the earrings. Follow the steps as you did for the necklace, I chose only to have a single 4mm pearl on each earring.
4.Then use jump rings to link the looped ends of the safety pins to the fishhooks.
