Create a no sew Enamel Pin Banner DIY to display all of your enamel pins, badges and brooches!
This clever design involves cutting two tabs at the top that are fed through slits to hold them in place. This creates a channel for a length of wooden dowel to go through. The thick felt holds its shape and doesn’t even need any glue!

You will need:
-Wooden dowel 30cm (12″) long, and 15mm in diameter.
-Cord for hanging. I’m using this Rico 1mm macrame cord in grey.
-Scissors or Craft Knife and cutting mat
-4 foldback or bulldog clips
-Metal ruler
-Template. Click below to download.

How to make:
If you don’t have access to a printer, you can transfer the measurements on the template to your felt with a ruler and pen, then use these to create the cuts and slits needed
1.Download the template and print it out on A4 (210mm by 297mm) paper. Attach it to the felt using foldback or bulldog clips. Then using a craft knife, cut through both the template and the felt wherever there are dashed lines.
There are two horizontal cuts that go all the way to the edges which make the tabs. Then four vertical slits that the tabs will go into and two cuts at the bottom to form the point!

2.Your printer might cut off the point at the bottom where the two cuts meet. Just carry on to that they form a point.

3.Once you have made all your cuts and slits, remove the template and clips. Fold the top over and insert a tab into the inner slit.

3.Then take the tab up through the outer slit and pull it though. Repeat this with the other tab.

4.Turn the banner over and the front should look like this. The tabs should stay in place all by themselves, but if your felt is thinner just pop a dab of fabric glue on to make sure they stay put.

5.This will have created a channel for the dowel to go through.

Tie on a piece of cord to each side of the dowel for hanging.

That looks like fun. Are you sure the dowel is only 1.5mm? It looks more like 15mm from here. It would fit the channel better and hang better at 15mm, too.
Yes it was meant to be 15mm! Pesky decimal point sneaking in there ♀️ I’ve changed it now. Thanks for letting me know
Poifect! At first I thought there was something wrong with my computer, but then I figured that it was just the mysteriously appearing decimal point. I figured I ought to say something, as you probably don’t reread your own blog all that often.
I do enjoy the things you post. They’re fun, even if I only think about them instead of actually doing them. I do some of them, of course.
I always appreciate people letting me know if things aren’t right – it doesn’t matter how many times I read through posts, things always slip past! Glad you enjoy my posts
