Super simple DIY Dinosaur Jar – hack a plain lidded jar into a fun dinosaur accessory!
It is a funny thing finding a baby gift because lets face it, the baby isn’t going to have a preference beyond being held, changed and fed for a good few months yet, so really, you are buying for the mother to be. My friend Lauren has kinda got obsessed with a dinosaur theme for her baby boy so I knew I wanted to create something dinosaur themed for the baby’s room. Then I remembered seeing some DIYs floating around on Pinterest using toy dinosaurs as handles and my creative brain was off! I had seen a porcelain jar with a rabbit lid in Paperchase that I really loved and decided to create a dinosaur version!
You will need:
-small plastic dinosaur, surprisingly hard to find just one- I got a pack from John Lewis, but they don’t seem to be on their website anymore 🙁
-container with flat lid, this was from my local Tiger Store
How to:
1.Make sure the plastic dinosaur (Diplodocus? Apatosaurus?) is clean and dry, then apply a layer of acrylic paint and leave to dry. Apply a second coat if needed.
2. Spray with a clear gloss varnish to give a tough finish
3.Mix up a small amount of the epoxy glue and dab a little on each of the dinosaurs feet and place it in position on the lid.
4.Once the glue has set fill the jar with cotton wool balls, retro coloured ones are optional, but ever so pretty!
